Patna: Experts at the International Webinar organized by the State Water Resources Department (WRD) on Friday suggest a solution to mitigate floods and droughts that interfere with Bihar every year, which is in line with the vision of cm nith kumar to find a strong and long solution From natural oddities.
The inauguration of Webinar, WRD Minister Sanjay Kumar Jha said, “Nitish Kumar, always insisted on finding a long-term solution for flooding and drought in the state.
Under the department of his guidance was trying to find a long-term solution for water management in Bihar.” On the first day of the webinar Days will conclude on Saturday, experts from Italy, Nepal, IIT ROORKEE, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Lucknow present their views.
“The Chief Engineers of WRD was instructed to attend this webinar so they benefited from experiences and suggestions of experts.
After the two-day webinar ended, we will hold a department meeting to discuss output webinars and will decide which ideas we will do in the future , “Minister said.
During the webinar Jha mentioned that in the past recently, the department has benefited from advanced initiatives such as early warning systems (for flooding), real-time data acquisition system (RTDA), spatial database system, use of remote sensors & GIS .
And identifying anti-erosion works with the help of satellite imagination, iron sheet poles and the department are increasingly sharp to explore further programs that can lead us to sustainable, long-term and effective water management in the state.
Jha also said that the government Bihar reflected the interlinking of the river to deal with whammy double floods and drought in the state.
Overcoming Webinars, Secretary WRD Sanjeev Hans said because of climate change, the possibility of frequency and intensity of the floods in Bihar will increase in the days to come.
“Under the guidance of CM Nith Kumar, the department has worked on structural, non-structural & green steps for flood mitigation.
Given the high population density in the state we have to see a scientific solution for this.” He said.
In their presentation, experts such as N Dinesh Kumar and Manoj Chauhan suggested moving the flood waters of the rainy season from the northern Bihar to a richer water-rich basin from the South Bihar, in addition to the construction of a process of marketing to increase the recharging of the runoff of the rainy season.
Maurya from IIT Roorkee discussed hydrological reasons, topography and fluvial on flooding in Bihar and suggested several drugs such as mud management.
Neer Shreshta Pradhan from Icimod, Nepal, suggested involving the community in flood management and sending them regular warnings related to adding or reducing river water levels to ensure the safety of the community.
