Chennai: The Department of School Education is discussing schools for class IX students to XII, Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi told reporters on Tuesday.

“With increasing strength in government schools this year, the Department of School Education is looking for infrastructure and teacher forces to defend students in government schools,” added the minister.

Asked why the department had not taken any action against the school that collected full costs of the government’s order, the minister said the school education department had warned school before taking action.
“We have asked for school to collect 75% of the costs in two installments – 40% and 35%,” he said.
The minister said teacher recruitment needed restructuring because there was a lot of confusion in the recruitment process.
