Mumbai: Property tax from former defense personnel and their relatives will be released by BMC.
This comes on the recent heel announcement from the neglect of full property tax for homes less than 500-sq-ft in Mumbai.
The proposal to release property tax was submitted before the BMC Law Committee on Friday.
Officials said that the state government in 2020 issued a notification that asked all urban local agencies to release property taxes for former defense personnel.
“The BMC scheme will include former defense personnel, widows of martyrs and unmarried martyrs.
Those who meet the requirements must submit relevant certificates from the Sainik District Welfare Office or Domicile Certificate to prove that they have lived in the state for the past 15 years.
Only one property was eligible for neglect.
Officials said similar proposals were moved last year to release only public tax components.
“It was rolled back when the High Court ordered BMC to release all components,” said an official.
