Mum: PVT HOSPS Looking for Relaxation Ratio Bed 80:20

Mumbai: With Covid-19 cases that fall in the city, there are indications that BMC can relax 80:20 rules that mandate private hospitals to charge only government rates for 80% of the covid bed.
In some cases, hospitals can also be left to go with several Covid wards so that non-covid patients get better access to health services, sources of resources in the public health department.
The hospital association tends to take problems for discussion with BMC officials at the coming meeting later this month.
A citizenship official said the corporation tended to issue notice next week which only needed a hospital to order 50% of their Covid-19 bed at government prices.
“If the hospital has a separate entrance, then they will also be allowed to reduce the number of Covid beds for now until the third wave occurs,” the official said.
When contacted, the BMC commissioner, Suresh Kakani said there was no decision taken in connection with a private hospital.
The BMC itself, has decided to hold his plan to open the four newly built field hospitals.
The administrator of the private hospital said, “It’s time we can also reduce our covid bed so that non-covid patients we can get beds easier.” Dr.
V Ravishankar, COO Hospital Lilavati, Bandra, said the hospital still had 198 covid beds, although only 24 were occupied.
“We have to delay surgery for non-covid as a result,” he said.
Other administrators say BMC must appoint several private hospitals located in the center to keep the bed and environment of Covid and let others continue the work that is not covid.
Joy Chakraborthy from Hinduja Hindu Hospital, Mahim, said when his hospital had dedicated all buildings to Covid, questions about obstruction for non-covid operations did not appear.
The Maharashtra government has reduced Covid bed reservations in private hospitals from 80% to 50% and it is also in the condition that hospitals will increase bed reservations after a surge in Covid case.
This reduction was carried out based on orders issued on September 1 considering the increasing number of monsoon-related diseases in the state.
Officials from the state government said that more than 15 districts in the state have less than 100 active cases and covid beds lay empty.
Even in cities, most cases are treated at home and a very small percentage of covid patients needing hospitalization.
“There is a request from many hospitals to have a need-based policy for bed reservations for Covid-19 patients.
It is possible that the review can be taken Post Diwali as a surge is expected to post the celebration season,” the official said.
