Mumbai: Most of the city schools are not interested in opening next month because that’s when the first semester exam will be held online.
The principal said the best time to reopen the school would be the second semester that began after Diwali, in November the second week.
It seems, in Mumbai, the civil heads still make decisions about the reopening of schools from October 4 for class VIII to XII, as permitted by the state government for urban areas.
Meanwhile, before the school reopened, the Pediatric Negeri task unit has suggested standard operating procedures (SOP) for the systematic closure of the school in terms of Covid-19 cases on campus to avoid panic and jerk reactions.
The school has also been told to use their own funds to regulate health clinics and ordering equipment such as Oximeters and infrared thermometers.
“School closure must be suggested when positive cases between students, teachers and non-teaching staff of an institute rise above 5% of the total pupil power in a 14-day period or 10 positive Covid cases detected in the school building in 14- days , “Pramod JOG, member of the task force and senior pediatrician, told TI on Tuesday.
At the reopening, the principal as the State Board School said, “We deactivated our plan for the first semester online exam, including for class X.
The teacher will not be able to do physical classes and attend work related to online exams.” He said there were 50 to 60 Students per class.
Divide them into batches to do online and offline classes need a lot of planning.
The headmaster said the exam will begin next week and the state does not support the examination of theory at least two weeks after the physical school continues.
“We started our first semester exam for class X from 4.
October so, it could not have students in class,” said the principal.
Students have been told about the possibility of offline exams but parents are not interested, added.
The school this time hasn’t started placing the Covid protocol.
“In August, we cleaned our classrooms but the school was not open.
Now only after the order is received, we will go down to put all Covid protocols on the spot,” said a principal.
Schools in Mumbai remain closed since locking March 2020.
The final decision to open the school leaned against the civil head or collector.
Some international schools say they are fully prepared to start the physical class.
Kavita Chatterjee, head of the International School orchid school, Kurla, said, “Our students have an exam until the second week of October and we can reopen at the end of next month.” Director of Education Network Podar Podar Hard said they had placed detailed and well-planned safety protocols to return to school.
Pediatrician has asked the state government to physically reopen school because of the problem of behavior exhibited by children after months after living at home.
Hyperactive in children has increased.
Sanjay Bafna, a child specialist and former President of Indian Academy of Pediatriatri, Pune Branch, said, “This guideline will help school administration start the right steps and block the situation of fear and panic.”
