Mumbai: A IT engineer from Hyderabad has been arrested for posting the threat of rape of a 9-month-old daughter of Indian Cricket Star on Twitter after India lost the match to put Pakistani rivals in the T20 World Cup on October 24.
Ramnagsh Akubathini (23), who works with startup based in Bengaluru, constantly changed his profile on social media to make Cricketer before he was finally tracked.
Akubathini’s father said his son graduated from IIT Hyderabad two years ago.
He was in his hometown when he worked from home during a pandemic and was picked up by the Mumbai police team.
The cyber police station at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) has posted it under the IPC section related to sexual harassment and criminal intimidation, among others, and under the IT Law.
He will be produced before the Esplanade court on Thursday.
A cyber police officer said the defendant used a fake name on social media to cover his footsteps while removing threats.
“He uses technical means to hide his identity in the online room to make it difficult for an investigation agent to track it,” the officer said.
Akubathani drove Cricketer and his wife and threatened to attack their nine-month-old sexual daughter because it came out to support the team after the match against Pakistan missing.
“Attacking someone for their religion is the saddest thing that someone can do as a human,” Cricketer said.
Next, he faced a series of online abuse.
Commissioner with the Police (crime) Milind Bharambe said the police team had brought the suspect to Mumbai.
“People think they can go free to hide their identity on social media and use a false profile to make the threat.
The cyber team is well equipped to track them,” said DCP (Mumbai-cyber) Dr.
Rashmi Kandandikar.
Father Ramnagsh, Srinivas’s father told Tii, “my child is only a cricket lover and is usually very conscious in his reaction …
I can’t understand.
Why did he do this.” The Delhi Commission for women also took a note of Suo Motu from tweets based on media reports and asked Delhi police to register fir and arrest the defendant.
