Mumbai: Seventeen people were injured in the Shahu Nagar Dharavi area after a gas cylinder stored in a narrow lane at Mubarak Hotel began to leak and burn on Sunday afternoon.
Injury, five conditions, including 4 minors, are very important.
Underage children have been identified as Alina Ansari (5), Faiyaz Ansari (16), Attazam Ansari (4) and Sonu Jaiswal (8).
“Five patients are very important and have been placed in ventilators.
From them, two have suffered more than 70% of burns,” said Dr.
Mohan Joshi, Dean of Sion Hospital.
Some have experienced fractures and may require operations, which will be carried out in a few days.
The remaining patients have sustained 25% -30% burn, but most are stable.
All have been treated at Ward 15, the hospital authority said.
Two firefighting machines, one jumbo water tanker and civil society and police officials immediately reached the site.
All those injured were saved and rushed to Sion Hospital.
Officials said the leaked cylinder was left unattended outside on the road and suddenly burned.
Finally went out at 12:50 a.m.
“Someone might have dropped a cigarette that lights up next to the cylinder that leads to the explosion, and the people walk past the narrow path trapped in the flame,” said a citizenship official.
