MUMBAI: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has ceased brand new admissions of Covid-19 sufferers in three suburban centers in town until June 1 because of pre-monsoon repair job, the BMC stated on Monday. The majority of the patients from such centers, situated in the Bandra-Kurla Sophisticated, Dahisar and Mulund, have been changed to other hospitals earlier cyclone Tauktae, Dr Rajesh Dere, dean of their jumbo Covid-19 facility in the BKC, stated.

“New admissions are ceased at these 3 Covid-19 centers till June 1,” he explained.

Dere reported the repairs performed as part of preparations before the approaching monsoon period and the rest of the required functions will be carried out within this period because these temporary structures have been in support since the previous year.

Mumbai has six functional Covid-19 centers at Byculla, Worli, BKC, Goregaon, Dahisar, and Mulund.

The town governments have begun preparations to attack the potential third wave of Covid-19 and have intended to erect three fresh jumbo Covid-19 centers in town, a BMC officer stated.

As per a recent launch of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), the job for establishing a fresh jumbo Covid-19 facility at Malad from the western world is currently in progress.

The center will have a potential of almost 2,000 beds, such as 200 ICU bedrooms and 1,536 air beds, based on MMRDA.

The jumbo centre may also have a different pediatrics ICU ward for kids, aside from a yoga hall and a recreation hall, it’d stated.

As stated by civic officials, another two wheeled Covid-19 centers will appear in the Somaiya Ground and Kanjurmarg from the southern suburbs of Mumbai.

On Sunday, Mumbai reported 1,431 fresh coronavirus instances and 49 deaths, requiring the caseload into 6,97,810 along with the death toll on 14,623, according to official statistics.
