Mumbai: 3 ‘Fake’ Maois survives on charges of extortion

Mumbai: Two men and a woman were arrested for allegedly posing as Maois and tried to squeeze Rs 50 lakh from the elderly doctor in Goregaon suburbs here, police said on Saturday.
The investigation has revealed that the trio has planned extortion by watching videos on YouTube, an official said.
A 76-year-old doctor who has a clinic in the Pandurang Wadi Goregaon (East) area, on Wednesday receives an envelope containing a letter from the Maoist organization, where the demand for Rs 50 Lakh has been made, he said.
In the letter, the accused people had threatened to kill his doctor and his son if the number was not paid, the official said, adding that the extortion case was registered at the Vanrai police station.
During the investigation, the police found that a clothing Burqa woman came to the pharmacy adjacent to the complainant clinic and had provided an envelope to the relative doctor, he said.
When checking CCTV footage, the police could see the woman’s face and therefore, the police team was sent to Virar, Palghar, Navi Mumbai, Goregaon and Maldo to hunt, he said.
The woman was finally traced to Ghansoli in Navi Mumbai and was arrested on Friday, while the two were accused of further Nabbed.
Bhaishakhi Biswas (21) allegations, Modh Hayat Shaha (45) and Vikrant Kirat (50) said that they had hatched plans after watching Youtube videos, DCP Datta Nalawade (Detection-1) said.
The trio needed money and knew that the doctor was a good man, the official said, added that the woman worked at a bar and touched with other charges.
