Mumbai: The Yellow City Gate Police Station, investigated the sink of the Paapa 305 or P305 shade during Tautkae’s typhoon, at the end of Friday capturing three P305 employees.
A total of 261 crew members were on board when the barge began to sink on May 17.
While most of them were saved by Indian naval warships, Kochi and Kolkata, 71 died after the barge sank.
Three defendants have been arrested for guilty murders who do not amount to murder and will be interrogated in police custody.
Yellow Gate Police, Port Prime Police Station in the city that has jurisdicry up to 300 nautical miles in the sea, has registered Fir on May 20 against Rakesh Ballav, captain P305 and several others for murder capable of murder.
Ballav also died in an accident and his body was claimed by his relatives three weeks after the incident.
The complainant, Mustafizur Rehman Shaikh, a survivor who was the engineer on the barge, had alleged that he had repeatedly asked the captain to give a signal of a depressed call for help but the Ballav delayed it for more than 10 to 12 hours.
Many crew members jumped into the sea to save their lives.
The barge sank on May 17 night.
The investigation also found that the Ballav, had been on May 14 to send whatsapp messages to his company told that they had removed the barge of 175 meters from the platform and it was safe, said a police officer.
The investigator, who has recorded a dozens of sufferers from P305, said that at 11:30 a.m.
on May 16, the barge began to drift during Tautkae cyclone.
The police have taken blood samples of relatives from some missing / died to identify decomposity bodies.
So far, 67 bodies have been identified and handed over to the family.
Four still lying in JJ hospitals that have not been identified.
The police have so far recorded a statement of 55 people from various companies in this matter.
