Mumbai: Meera Barve 83 years old who smiled when the nurse injected it with a vaccine on Friday.
Because the pandemic broke out in 2020, Octogenarian had met his daughter, who was only 200 km away in Dapoli, just twice.
Last time a few months ago, he sat on a long arm wearing a mask.
“I really want to be vaccinated,” Barve said, hoping to meet his daughter more often now.
Barve was between 14 prisoners riding on the bed at home during the age in Jogeshwari (East) to be fully inspired by the 1st day of the immunization drive from the door.
A total of 37 people from K Ward Timur, including slums in Chakala and Sakinaka, were vaccinated by members of the Mumbai NGO project and the civic teams crossed the second-populated ward in an ambulance.
All recipients must produce fitness certificates and approval letters.
Timesviewdoor-todoor vaccination is a great initiative to take immunization to the last person in the community.
However, several requirements such as fitness certificates or doctor’s letters that support the health condition of the person ridden by the bed may be challenging to obtain.
The state and BMC must be open to change the norm based on feedback and experience that arise from the real world.
The drive starts with the power of Joshi (79), a resident of Vijay Nagar in Andheri e, which has been shown not moving by his heart, diabetes and weaknesses.
His son, Dr.
Nitin Joshi, said everyone in their house was fully vaccinated except him.
“This is a great initiative and people have to register without fear,” he said.
Friday drives will be reviewed to start in Maharashtra.
For now, it produces a fitness certificate and ensures the presence of a doctor for a 30-minute observation period seems to be the biggest obstacle, said Suresh Kakani, an additional Municipal commissioner.
While more than 200 demand for home vaccination comes from K East, almost 25-30 able to regulate fitness certificates, said Dr.
Urmila Patil, Ward Health Officer.
Under the guidelines, those who are interested in home vaccination must also provide an approval letter.
Dr.
Niranjan Wagh, who runs Jogeshwari’s house along with Sumangala’s wife, a nurse, said restrictions on several inmates, almost all families have given their approval for vaccination.
“Since the pandemic began, we have reduced physical visits from relatives.
We hope with vaccination things will be closer to normal,” he said.
At least a dozen vaccination was carried out in slum colonies in Sakinaka, Chakala and MIDC, said Shishir Joshi, founder of Mumbai Project.
Of the four bottles opened, almost some doses were wasted in vain, said Joshi, because they had a micro mapped environment to save travel time.
“We called people before and asked them to save documents.
From Monday, we intend to vaccinate 50-75 people every day,” he said.
