Mumbai: Chunabhatti police arrested four men for allegedly stabbed the taxi driver at hand, threw chili powder in his eyes and fled with cash and his call.
On September 2, around 3 in the morning, the men approached the taxi driver, Lalit Tiwari, at Byculla and asked him to take him to Mulund.
Twenty minutes later, when a taxi was near Everad Nagar, one of the passengers said he wanted to answer nature calls.
As soon as the taxi was stopped, the man in the front passenger seat took out the knife and threatened Tiwari.
Other people grabbed their telephone and Rs 1,200 from his pocket.
When Tiwari refused, they stabbed him in his hand, threw chili powder in his eyes and escaped into the dark.
A marshal beat on the patrol assignment found Tiwari was injured outside the taxi.
The police warned the police station and immediately a suspect was arrested.
Later, his accomplices were arrested from Nashik and telephone and cash recovered from them.
