Mumbai: In the past seven months, Force Protection Railway (RPF) has saved 477 children who fled the train platform from the central train across Maharashtra and reunite them with their parents.
About 477 children, including 310 boys and 167 girls, have been rescued and reunited with their families with the help of NGOs, according to the central train.
According to RPF, most children are found to roam the train station after they leave their homes after fighting or scolded or seeking luxury or a better life.
These children were saved during the period January to July 2021 from the Division of Mumbai, Bhusawal, Nagpur, Pune, and Solapur Solapur.
General Manager Anil Kumar Lahoti says that the train plays the role of social responsibility by connecting with the children who run away, understand their problems and advise them to relate with their families.
He also appreciated the RPF and frontline staff who played an important role by identifying such cases with their innate sense and took action immediately as a counselor.
