Mumbai: The crowded elevator fell in a building in byculla on Saturday night injuring five people including three women and two children.
The Marg JJ police have registered the case and ordered building developers and others.
The source said that the five were rushed to the JJ Hospital managed by the government and their condition was said to be stable.
According to information, the elevator in Gulmohar Terrace Building in Khadia Street New Cafe Paradise collapsed around 11:05 a.m.
on Saturday night.
This building is land plus 18 floors built under the slum rehabilitation authority scheme (SRA).
The fire brigade sets it as an incident level 1.
The injured have been identified as Huma Khan (24), Arsha Khan (7), Sahera Kadri (3), Shaikh Nilofer (36) and Shahin Khan (45).
“Fifth received in an orthopedic ward and stable,” said an official.
The JJ Marg police have registered the first report on the developer and the people who care.
The defendant has been ordered based on part 287 (negligent behavior in connection with the machine) and section 338 (causing sad pain by acting to endanger the life or personal safety of others) from the IPC.
The police source said that the elevator had an eight capacity of passengers.
However, there are 16 people including some children.
