Mumbai: City RTOS has got a total of seven car driving simulators to help direct candidate practices on machines and improve skills before appearing for land testing.
Simulator will be offered for free to those who appear for the final driving test.
While RTOS in Tardeo, Wadala and Andherihave each got two simulators, Borivli RTO got one.
Each machine costs around RS 5 Lakh, and the state has purchased a total of 65 simulators for 50 RTO throughout Maharashtra at a cost of around Rs 3.30 Crore, said the source.
“We have so far installed 35 simulator machines in RTOS throughout the country,” said the State Transport Commissioner Avinash Dhakne.
He said that the goal of having a simulator in RTOS was to ensure “safe” driving skills.
“Candidates who appear for the final driving test can access these machines to check how well they are drivers after buying a student license and through driving school training,” Dhakne said.
