Mumbai: Passenger traffic at city airports surged 59 percent in sequence to reach 1.1 million marks in July, because the airline was deployed higher capacity on the domestic route amid the easing of travel restrictions, a spokesman for Mumbai Airport on Monday.
The airport handles a total of 1.1 million passengers – including international tourists – and more than 11,400 flights in the previous month, according to officials.
The second busiest airport in the country has seen 6.94 lakh passengers, including domestic leaflets of 6.33 lakh, in June, according to the Indian airport website.
The opening of a gradual office also leads to increased flight capacity and which in turn, produces sequential growth, the spokesman said.
The weekend saw the majority of passengers traveling to Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, among the domestic and Doha sectors, Newark and Dubai among the international sectors, from Mumbai.
“CSIA has played a host with a total of around 1.1 million passengers and more than 11,400 flights above domestic and international destinations in July.
From here, around 5-lakh passengers traveled on weekends in the previous month compared to passengers 3- Lakh on June weekend.
Also, from flight 11,400 operated during July, more than 4,000 flights were operated over the weekend, “said the spokesman.
The airport has operated more than 2,700 flights over a total weekend of 8,260 flights in June, he added.
The opening of a gradual office is equipped with an increase in flight capacity, which is another factor for sequential growth, the official said.
Mumbai Airport also added 11 new goals, including seven international destinations, on its network, operating a total of 86 goals in July, compared to 75 in June, the spokesman said.
