Mumbai: Three people, including a beer bar dancer who posed as Naxalit and threatened a 76-year-old doctor and tried to squeeze Rs 50 Lakh from him, arrested by City Crime Branch on Friday.
The XII unit, led by Inspector Mahesh Tawde, on Friday put a trap and arrest Baisakhi Vishwas (21), Hayat Shah (50) and his friend Vikrant Subhash Chandra Kirat.
While Baisakhi is a dancer bar, Hayat and Kirat is a real agent in the colony of wild residents in Goregaon.
The police said the brain behind the plan to squeeze money from Dr.
Vadilal Shah was Hayat.
“Vadilal is a family doctor and his family.
Hayat knows the details of the victim and tells his grace that he can be easily fooled,” said Datta Nalawade, deputy commissioner of the police (crime).
The police said the three used letterhead with the words ‘Lal Salaam’ (the greeting used by the Communists) to threaten Dr.
Shah, who had a clinic in Goregaon (e).
On September 15, Baisakhi, a resident of Ghansoli, visited the doctor’s clinic in Goregaon wore Burqa and left a threatening letter, where they demanded Rs 50 Lakh.
In the letter, they said they were naxalit and if he failed to pay them would kill his only son.
Police said the defendant got the idea of extortion while watching online videos.
Hayat and Vikrant are real agents and get to know each other.
One of the two knew Baisakhi and they promised the RS50,000 commission.
Dr.
Shah filed a police complaint and during the supervision of CCTV footage, the woman in Burqa was identified and arrested from Ghansoli.
He blew the cover of his sacree, Tawde said.
The police then arrested both.
The two defendants were ordered under the Section of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC) to threaten and extortion.
They will be produced before the court on Sunday.
The police wanted to know if they had sent a threatening note like another victim.
