Mumbai: Bhandup Police on Friday ordered two policemen after it was found that cash and valuable items worth RS 5.31 Lakh were lost from the police station.
Valuables are part of recovery in different cases during 2012 and 2019.
The material confiscated is stored in police custody and returned to the complainant when the court.
Two Police – Constable Women Nirmala Lohare and Bharat Suryavanshi – were ordered under Section 409 (criminal violations of trust by civil servants, or by bankers, traders or agents) and 34 (actions carried out by several people with general intentions) from the IPC.
Police sources said that the two police officers were responsible for the safety of valuables.
Police said Lohare handled this work and in 2012 he was transferred to another department.
Suryavanshi who took the allegations and it was his duty to keep the material confiscated safe.
During 2019, Suryavanshi was transferred to the crime and the other Sangeeta Wagh police, which was a complainant in this matter, posted for this work.
While verifying the list of confiscated items, Wagh found that RS 3.21 lakh and gold cash valued at RS 2.1 Lakh was lost.
He reported this problem to senior officers and investigations began.
Constables’s second statement was also recorded and they said they did not know when and how the results were gone.
“We have registered casts and investigated it,” said Nitin Unhavne, senior inspector from the Bhandup police station.
No arrest has been done.
