Mumbai: BMC on Friday suspended three staff from the Solid Waste Management Department (SWM) after a maintenance worker allegedly died of suicide on the non-payment of his salary for almost two years.
Safai Kamgar, Ramesh Parmar (27), had consumed poisons on Tuesday in the office since he was under financial pressure, according to his uncle pitambar.
Ramesh was treated at HBT Trauma Hospital in Jogeshwari, and then to Kem Parel Hospital, where he was declared dead on Thursday.
He survived his brother and his mother.
BJP has demanded a direct suspension of officials responsible for delaying Ramesh payments.
Safai Kamgars also protested outside Ward P-South to protest Parmar’s death.
