Mumbai COPS NIP Cyber Fraud in Bud, RS 1L Returned

Mumbai: Acting instantly on the complaint application of a 26-year-old player who was a victim of a credit card fraud, the city police managed to get a refund of RS 1.1 lakh lost.
The victim card has been used cheating to buy expensive cellphones and several other items, but the Matunga police managed to coordinate with e-commerce companies, and asked them to stop shipping and return money.
The applicant organized the lunch program for his friends and wanted to order a table at the Central Mumbai restaurant.
He is looking for an online restaurant and finds the registered contact number.
Not realizing that it was a fraudster number, the complainant called him and asked to order a table.
Conman asked for a down payment.
He asked for the details of the victim’s credit card, including CVV numbers, etc., and then asked him to share the OTP sent on his cellphone.
When the victim got a message about the transaction for RS 1.1 Lakh, he realized that he had been cheated and approached the police.
Because he contacted the police in a few hours after the crime, the police could take fast action too.
Psi Rajabhau Garad and the team coordinated with nodal officials from the payment gateway and then contacted the e-commerce platform.
“The money was returned to the applicant,” said a police source.
The buyer comes from Jharkhand, police said.
