Mumbai: The city set a new record for Daily Covid-19 infection for reporting nearly 20,000 cases on Thursday, destroying projections that the third wave can reach that number.
The addition of 19,780 new cases beat before 15,014 was reported only the day before.
During the second wave of delta-driven, the highest was 11,206 cases on April 4, 2021.
While death continued in one digit (4), the level of Daily Mumbai’s pepititification reached 30% surprisingly, reported Sumitra Deb Roy.
BMC data set new cases even higher in 20,181-anomalies between daily numbers and city figures are often caused by lag in reporting.
The increase in Mumbai’s case pushed the country’s daily count to eight months high of 36,265.
Last time Maharashtra reported more cases on May 14 (39,923).
The active case in Maharashtra passes the sign of one lakh after six months.
Thirteen Covid-19 deaths were reported in the state, registering the increase in fatalities that could be ignored so far.
Also, there are 8,907 recovery in the state and 2,837 in the city, the highest in a few moments.
