Mumbai: Four years after receiving BMC notice, the family of actor Amitabh Bachchan finally had to part with a portion of their pratestery bungalow plot in Juhu to widen from Marg Sant Dnyaneshwar adjacent.
BMC has asked Mumbai Suburban Collector Millind Borkar to instruct city survey officials to limit the right parts needed for road widening projects, report Chaitanya Marpakwar.
BMC issued a notice to Bachchans in 2017 to eradicate traffic congestion on the path that leads from Prateeksha to the Iskcon Temple, BMC takes over part of the property to expand Marg Sant Dnyaneshwar, which connects the Cinema Chandan area to connect the road, from 45ft to 60 feet.
The work is almost complete, but for stretching in front of Prateeksha.
In 2017, Bachchans and neighboring plot owners on stretch were asked to provide a portion of their plots for the project; Most obey notice.
In 2019, BMC destroyed the wall boundary side by side with Prateeksha, but the Superstar bungalow was left untouched.
Corporator Congress Tulip Miranda recently took a problem with the K-West Ward and claimed that BMC deliberately delayed the acquisition of Bachchan’s property.

In a written reply to Miranda, West K-West Region official said BMC would acquire land soon after the city survey office completed the demarcation of parts of the required Pratestercha plot.
Civil officials said they had applied to get prateeksha plots which were restricted in December 2019 and also pay fees.
Joint measurement for demarcation was held on February 2021.
A senior official said city survey officials had shown some differences in the map, but all the details were submitted to their office to clarify irregularities.
Bachchan did not respond to the question from TOI.
