Mumbai: The city registered zero cases of dengue fever, chikungunya and H1N1 in the first 10 days of this year, according to BMC.
In December 2021, 40 cases of dengue fever and 12 chikungunya were registered.
Both virus infections registered a comeback after the second Covid wave receded in June, with 876 cases of dengue fever in 2021.
Chikungunya, who appeared after two years in Mumbai, saw 80 cases in 2021.
Dr.
Anita Mathew’s specialist from Fortis Hospital , Mulund, said, “The other virus fever was lost when Covid became dominant.
We saw this in 2020 and it was the same story now.” But from January 1-9, the city has 43 cases of malaria, 96 gastroenteritis and seven hepatitis.
There are no deaths registered because one of the infectious diseases (regardless of Covid) so far this year, BMC official said.
