Mumbai: BMC has organized drive leprosy awareness, along with door-to-door visits and surveys between 30 January and February 14 as part of the national leprosy eradication program.
Drive, which will be held on all 24 city wards, will focus on eliminating misunderstandings about leprosy, infectious diseases that affect the skin, mucous membranes and nerves and can cause defects and defects.
Although India has declared leprosy as an eliminated disease, the case suddenly jumped in 2018-19 in an urban bag like Mumbai.
In 2018, 362 new cases were reported against 326 in the previous year.
The BMC Sparsh awareness campaign will aim to eliminate the misunderstanding of these conditions by regulating oath taking ceremonies in schools and colleges, street games and screening camps.
“In addition, we will also make a door-to-door visit and survey,” said BMC Health Officer Mangala Gomare.
