Mumbai: By raising the Highrises Dotting The Mumbai’s Skyline, The Fire Brigade is expected to get in a month of special purpose vehicles with a strong water pump reaching up to 50 floors at a cost of Rs 2.2 Crore.
At the moment the pump can send water only to the 12th floor of the building, after that another pump is placed if the fire is on a higher floor.
The pump with a tank capacity of 10,000 liters can send 300 liters of water per minute.
But officials said seeing a new challenge overlooking the fire brigade, they saw new ways to deal with complicated fires.
A senior fire fighting official said that they examined the vehicle they had customized.
The proposal for buying was passed by the Standing Committee Civic about six months ago.
The pump for new vehicles is being imported from France, while equipment will be adjusted in circumstances.
“While we expect highrises to have their own fire department mechanism, if the mechanism does not work when needed, the fire department needs to have a high pressure pump that can send water during the maximum flammation,” the official said, adding that the pump can be used even to spray water if it happens slum.
Officials say the pump that can send water up to 12 floors can make the fire on a higher floor operation that is very complicated, because other pumps are needed.
The highest ladder is 90 meters high and assigned in August 2015.
It can reach up to 30 floors from Highrise and obtained from the finish company at a cost of Rs 16 Crore.
