Mumbai: Although the Daily Covid vaccination drive is erratic due to lack of doses, mass-free vaccination efforts in the city funded through corporate social responsibility have found their way into the world record of Guinness.
As part of an effort to make a record that takes around seven days (August 7-14), General Insurance Couns, ICICI Lombard, and Surana Group of Hospitals gets 30,467 people to sign a promise to get vaccination.
At the same time they vaccinated 32,000 people in the slums of Dharavi and Worli.
Dr.
Prince Surana from the Hospital group said, “We also vaccinate 50,000 free people in Koliwada, BDD Chawl and all Dharavi as part of this joint initiative,” he said.
They really gave four doses of the lakh vaccine so far, he added.
Because of the uncertain vaccine supply from the center, the BMC free vaccination drive has been disturbed in the days.
BMC hence told the home of the company and hospital to take a free vaccination drive in the slum bag to speed up the vaccination process.
BMC estimates that the private sector in Mumbai has more than 10 doses of the lakh vaccine that is being used slowly because of the costs involved.
It has 60 people, including verification, nurses, doctors and paramedic staff.
Icici Lombard General Insurance Sanjeev Mantri said, “We are highly recommended to get the opportunity to vaccinate more than 32,000 decent individuals, give them added protection against the virus.
This is degrading for us that we solve the guinness world record milestone in the process.”
