Mumbai: A woman suffered severe burns on her face when her brother-in-law allegedly threw acid on her on the eastern suburb of Ghatkopar, police said on Friday.
The police have arrested the defendant Prabuddha Kamble (45) for allegedly threw acid on her brother-in-law when the last work in a shop in Parshiwada in Ghatkopar on Wednesday, an official said.
The victim, who was a widow, recently began working in a shop, who disturbed the defendant, and the duo had a fight, he said.
On Wednesday, when the victim reached the shop to work, Kambu allegedly went there and threw acid on his face, the official said, added that the shop owner, who was present at the place, also suffered an injury to his hand and other body parts.
, The victims were rushed to the nearest hospital, where they were undergoing treatment, he said.
A pine under Section 307 (effort to murder), among the other IPC provisions had been registered against Kambu, who was arrested on the day of the attack, he said.
The police have not confirmed the type of acid used in attacks and samples have been sent to the Forensic Laboratory for further investigation, the official was added.
