MUMBAI: Mayor Kishori Pednekar on Sunday completed a surprise inspection for an Andheri resort which was providing Covid vaccination bundle and discovered that vaccines have been saved at a standard refrigerator rather than specialised cold storage facilities which are required to maintain vaccines.
Pednekar explained this was in breach of criteria and has requested BMC officials to examine the facts of the hospital that was carrying out Accreditation in the resort.
Pednekar seen The Lalit Hotel at Andheri East alongside BMC officials and stated BMC officials could submit a comprehensive report for her.
“I have discovered that vaccines were stored in a standard refrigerator.
There’s a tie-up involving the resort and Criticare Hospital that is your vaccinating agency.
The hospital purchased the vaccine doses according to the central government principles however, the BMC is unaware of this resort clerk center.
They’re vaccinating people as a piece of corporate appellate.
But I am worried about the refrigerator in which the vaccines were stored.
If the temperature isn’t kept then the vaccine could shed efficacy.
Cold storage facilities weren’t correctly kept,” Pednekar stated.
“The hotel management stated the Lalit Hotel obtained a proposition in the hospital which people could be vaccinated in the resort.
They’ve stated that those individuals, who don’t have a family to care for following the probate, can remain in the resort after obtaining a jab.
500 people are vaccinated in the name already.
Many company businesses have delivered their workers.
I’ve requested BMC officials to assess if all of the rules were followed closely if this kind or arrangement has been permitted,” Pednekar stated.
The Lalit Hotel direction failed to respond to your question from TOI.
The central authorities had cautioned resorts against supplying stay-vaccination bundles after reports that a few hospitality industry players had begun coming up with such strategies.
Union health ministry Dr Harsh Vardhan had tweeted:”Hotels that offer Covid-19 vaccination bundles shall confront strict legal actions! These actions have been in contravention to principles under the federal Covid vaccination plan and have to stop immediately.
