Mumbai: Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar on Sunday ties Rakhi to Covid-19 frontline workers and thanked them for their selfless work done during the Covid-19 pandemic.
He visited the Kasturba hospital and celebrated Raksha Bandhan by binding the scriptures to doctors, nurses and other health care workers.
“There is a need to be careful to avoid the third wave of pandemic,” he said while talking to reporters.
Pednekar also urged people not to flock while celebrating the festival and following the Covid-19 protocol.
“The outbreak has been significantly reduced but it does not end.
Black mushrooms and Delta Plus variants have emerged now.
The third wave can also infect children.
We must be careful,” he said.
Further pednekar said that the third wave load would fall in children.
Meanwhile, the Mayor also condemned the Bharatiya Janata (BJP) party to hold Jan Ashirwad Yatra throughout the country in the middle of the outbreak.
“Jan Ashirwad Yatra BJP is none other than Yatra fraud.
People witness what they do.
They will give them ‘Aashirwad’ in time.
If they really want to work, then they must provide covid vaccines for people,” he says.
In accordance with the official health bulletin issued on Saturday, Mumbai reported 259 new Covid-19 cases and 5 deaths for 24 hours.
