Mumbai: Facing acute blood shortages, the Premier City Cancer Institute, Tata Memorial Center, has appealed to people to come and donate.
The body of the state blood regulator said that there were shortcomings in Maharashtra and urging the housing community, organizations to hold camps.
Dr.
C C Pramesh, TMC Director, urged people on social media to donate blood and save lives.
“We face a lack of blood at @tatamemorial.
Please step to donate blood – it’s very safe, and you will save life,” he said.
He also said that the Institute would open to come to the community and hold the drive.
“Please contact our blood bank at 022-24177000 (Extn 4690),” he wrote.
After the appeal on Saturday, some Milmaikars and consultants from hospitals lined up to contribute on Sundays, but more donations will be needed.
Hospitals, which have daily requirements in the range of 80 to 100 units, are left with shares lasting only four to five days.
