Mumbai: While the NCP Minister Nawab Malik on Sunday confirmed that Sameer Wankhede was a Muslim who was suspected of falsifying the caste certificate to get the work of the central government and the National Commission for Deputy Chairperson of Arun Haldar’s caste to defend that state officials, the State official showed that there must be an official complaint for the caste supervisory committee to verify the validity of the certificate.
Minister of Justice Social Justice Dhananjay Munde confirms: “If the competent authority receives a complaint on the Wankhede caste certificate, it will be examined according to the rules.” Malik said complaints would likely be submitted in one or two days.
According to a bureaucrat, while the caste certificate was issued by the officers / representatives of the sub-division collector, it was verified by a high-level committee led by the rank officer of the shared secretary or additional collector.
This then applies by the caste examination committee according to the guideline prescribed by the Supreme Court in the case of Patil Madhuri.
Bureaucrats say that in the case of doubts about a person’s caste certificate, complaints are submitted to the SCroundiny Caste Committee, the quasi-judicial authority.
“The committee hears all parties, asking all relevant certificates and if needed, visiting residence against who the complaint has been made,” he said.
“The Social Justice Department has made the whole procedure very tight and all cases are disposed of in a period of time-bound.” If the certificate is found forged or incorrectly, the rule provides a period of six months and a fine.
“In the central government, caste verification is not mandatory, but the state government is empowered to investigate the Maharashtra population certificate,” said Bureaucrat.
According to reports, Haldar has met Wankhede and the latter has shown him all the relevant documents.
“I personally feel that he is included in the SC community and an ice hail from Mahar Caste and rises with such a position despite having a poor family,” Haldar said, but quickly to add that he would wait for a report from the state government.
Reacting about Hald-AR’s observation, Malik said it was very unfortunate that someone who held the position of constitution arrived at the conclusion in Ha-Ste.
“We have all documents and records to determine that Wankhede is a Muslim community and not the abandoned caste scheduled,” Malik said.
