Mumbai: Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale City has asked all traffic police to wear police uniforms while carrying out traffic duties, especially when collecting a fine for violations of Covid norms on the road.
Nagrrery in his order issued on Thursday stated that as a traffic police, while enforcing Covid-19 rules and traffic, punishment was taken against violators in accordance with the provisions of the law.
Police officers must be uniformed when taking such actions, but have been observed that in many places, officers act in ordinary clothes.
Taking advantage of this, people with criminal tendencies become doll police and extort money from residents, posing as police officers.
