Mumbai: Maharashtra has recorded three deaths due to Delta variants plus Covid-19, which is considered very contagious, so far.
In Mumbai, a woman who was fully vaccinated in 63 years died on July 27.
He has several comorbidity including diabetes, according to officials.
At least two nearby contacts were also found infected with the Delta Plus variant.
The woman, a resident of East Mumbai suburbs Ghatkopar, died while undergoing treatment at the ICU Hospital but only on August 11 that the authority of the state government stated that he was infected with the Delta Plus variant which was revealed in the genome sequencing report, said an official of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The woman had taken a covishield vaccine dose, but tested the positive coronavirus on July 21 with symptoms such as dry cough, loss of taste, body pain, and headache, he said.
In Raigad, a 69-year-old man in the Nagothane area in the district died because of the Delta Plus variant, the collector confirmed by Nidhi Chaudhary.
The variant also claimed the life of a 80-year-old woman from Ratnagiri District on June 13.
The woman didn’t even take a single dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
So far, 65 patients have been infected with this variant in the state, said statements issued by the Ministry of Health.
From new cases, seven were in Mumbai, three in Pune, two each in Nanded, Gondia, Raigad, Palghar, and one in the Chandrapur district and Akola.
Of the 65 patients such were found in a state so far, the highest cases, 33, were in the age group 19 to 45 years and 17 at 46 to 60 age groups.
The Delta Plus variant was also found in seven children and eight senior citizens, said statement.
