Mumbai: Starting in the middle of Fanfare in October 2018, the sea facing the toilet in the Mumbai South Marine Drive area which was built at a cost of almost Rs 1 Crore was being repaired once more.
After the condition of the internal & exterior part of the toilet began to deteriorate BMC through the JSW Foundation had begun its improvement.
Regular pedestrians about Marine drives show that currently the cellular toilet is placed next to the toilet that is available (which is being repaired) for the comfort of those who visit the pedestrian area.
The Public Toilet has become a gift for hundreds of daily visitors in this landmark area.
Because facilities are near the beach, in less than three years, the structure is corrosioned quickly.
BMC that builds the toilet with CSR funds through a private foundation must ensure it is renewed correctly and renovated.
Mahendra Hemdev, a local, said that the toilet seems to be near the sea might have taken the victim.
“There is also a Chowky police in pedestrians, installed about a year ago which seems to have begun to rust,” he said.
Assistant Commissioner Shivdas Gurav – responsible for a ward said that when the condition began to deteriorate the need for improvement was felt.
“Repairs are being carried out by the JSW Foundation.
We have asked tiles to be placed in facilities so that regular cleaning is also convenient.
At present there is a steel sheet that is placed and therefore it is not comfortable to clean,” Gurav said.
Atul Kumar, Vice President of Nariman Point Chilchgate, citizens of welfare residents (NPCCWT) who pay attention to the facilities being reconstructed said that one of the problems raised by regular pedestrians is the smell of the toilet because it does not have a waste line connection.
“It seems they replace the complete structure, but the core of the problem is the lack of waste line connections,” Kumar said.
Almost a few months after the toilet was inaugurated complaints about that smell began to come.
The toilet does not have a waste line connection and the same is on the opposite side of the road.
Therefore the septic tank in it is cleaned every alternative day through the suction tank.
Civil officials say that when the sea drive is a VIP stretch putting the gutter line now and connecting it from across the road will mean disturbing traffic and therefore they see newer ways to complete the drain connection for example by doing micro tunneling.
