Mumbai: Mumbai on Friday reported 9 fresh deaths related to Covid-19, the highest single-day death since August 11, 2021, and 11,317 new cases, fell 17.60 percent from the previous day, said Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
In this addition, the calculation of Coronavirus financial capital rose to 9.81,306, while the death toll rose to 16,435, a BMC bulletin said.
Also, 22,073 patients recovered from infection in the last 24 hours, he said.
This was the second day in a row when Mumbai witnessed swimming in the Coronavirus infection everyday.
The city reported 13,702 cases of Covid-19 and six deaths on Thursday.
This means the metropolis has recorded a 17.60 percent decline in cases, or 2,385 less, in the last 24 hours.
However, three more deaths were reported compared to the previous day.
According to the bulletin, 54,924 Covid-19 tests were carried out in the city in the last 24 hours compared to 63,031 on Thursday, pushing their cumulative number to 1,45,438.
Daily testing numbers are the lowest in the last 10 days.
Mumbai has a 20.60 percent participant, down from 21.73 percent a day.
The level shows the percentage of people testing their positive virus which overall has been tested.
According to the bulletin, 22,073 patients were repatriated in the last 24 hours, taking their cumulative number to 8.77,884.
Mumbai now has 84,352 Active Covid-19 cases, down from more than 95,000 a day ago.
The city has a coronavirus recovery rate of 89 percent.
According to the bulletin, of the total new cases, almost 84 percent, or 9,506, did not show symptoms.
Only 800 new patients were hospitalized, while only 88 in oxygen support.
6,432 of 38,088 hospital beds were for Coronavirus patients, or 16.8 percent of the total, currently occupied in the city.
The growth rate of Covid-19 infection in Mumbai reached 1.74 percent between January 7 and January 13, while doubling rates were 39 days, said the bulletin.
Mumbai currently has 65 closed buildings, but Zero detention zones in the slums and ‘Chawl’ (old row plots), he said.
The Civic Body building seals if the occupants of 20 percent of the total number of flats or at least 10 residents are found infected with Coronavirus.
Mumbai recorded 20,971 Covid-19 cases on January 7, 2022.
The high one day before for Mumbai was 11,163 cases, registered on April 4, 2021, during the second wave of pandemic.
