Last week, Hasan Shaikh (32) was on duty, provided food packages for Zomato customers around Kurla when he happened to be a wild dog, lying in deep trouble.
When the dog looked pain and stretched on the road, Shaikh called Vijay Mohanan’s animal activist from Bombay’s rights (bars) to request an animal ambulance to get a wild dog to the hospital.
“Because animal ambulances are not immediately available, I ask Hasan if he can arrange a private car or an autorickshaw to transport dogs to an animal hospital in Deonar,” said Mohanani.
And, he was surprised to learn that Zomato’s delivery man took the injured dog and gently put it in one of the food delivery bags.
He then rode his motorcycle directly to Deonar where he arrived at the hospital within 20 minutes of Kurla.
“Shaikh doesn’t even care about the fact that he will lose almost a day by going out of his way to help an animal,” Mohanani said.
The bar now appreciates the compassion of Shaikh against animals by rewarding him Rs 1,500 to compensate for the loss of his day’s salary.
When Zomato learned about why Shaikh missed today’s work before, it discussed a new helmet, bag, and cellphone stand to appreciate his movements.
