Mumbai: After a taxi, Uber now ventured into the bus business for the first time.
The intention behind this step is to prevent maximum office visitors from leaving their private car at home and turning to the bus that has carrying capacity in the range of 10 to 50 passengers, depending on the bus model.
Uber officials on Wednesday announced the launch of the company’s bus shuttle service for the company to get employees to and from working safely in new normal terms during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Services will be available in Mumbai and in other cities such as Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune and Bangalore, said an official.
The top bus will offer organizations / businesses’ programs that are made specifically for business travel and employees according to the needs of individual companies – based on specific distance, schedules and routes.
“Because this is a service that will offer organizations and businesses for employees’ travel, it can only be accessed by companies that register for this service.
Employees will be able to access the journey on the shuttle company Uber through their Uber application after it was linked by their employer, “Add the official.
“In addition to providing a reliable, safe, and cost-effective vehicle, the service also helps cities decomposed, reducing pollution and freeing office parking spaces,” said Abhinaav Mittoo, Head of Uber for business, India and South Asia.
“Safety is also a top priority for Uber.
The shuttle bus will include a series of comprehensive safety measures, including mandatory mask policies for motorists and drivers, pre-travel selfie verification for drivers,” he added.
Other Uber officials said, “Shuttle is a strong alternative to go through cars, travels that are often one person to the vehicle.
It will definitely help reduce the volume of vehicles on the road.” Normal buses can bring passengers equivalent to nine cars and this can keep more private cars outside the road.
