Mumbai: A man accused of raping a 30-year-old woman in Mumbai, Saki Naka was arrested by the local police on Friday.
The woman was found lying unconscious in Khairani Road at Saki Naka on Thursday night, the police said.
The police control room received a call in the early hours on Friday that a man struggled a woman in Khairani Road.
A police team rushed to a place to find a woman lying in a pool of blood.
Meanwhile, police officials tracked burners and arrested him on Friday.
The defendant has been identified as Mohan Chouhan (45) and he is currently being interrogated.
According to the preliminary probe, the victim had been raped and attacked with an iron rod in his personal part.
The police said that the incident had occurred within the tempo parked on the side of the road.
Bloodstains are also found in vehicles.
Chouhan has been ordered under various parts of the Indian criminal code including 307 (efforts to murder), 376 (rape), 323 (intentional injuries) and 504 intentional insults), Mumbai police told.
Further investigation is underway.
