Lucknow: Balrampur police on Monday arrested the former Samajwadi MP Party Rizwan Zaheer, his daughter (Zeba) and her husband Rais, along with the other three for the murder of the former Chair of the Tuslipur Nagar Pappu.
The murder, according to the police, was the result of competition related to the assembly selection of 2022 Uttar Pradesh.
The police also arrested three parliamentarians involved in the murder.
Feroz was killed near his house in Tulsipur on January 4 night.
SP Balrampur, Hemant Kutiyal, said Rizwan Zaheer lobbied tickets from the Jamajwadi party for his daughter from the tulipur assembly chair in Vidhan Sabha’s poll.
Feroz also pursued his nomination from the same seats from SP.
“Rizwan Zaheer through his sources in the party knows that Feroz is likely to get a ticket for the tulipur seat when his wife Lehkasha is also the seat of Pancar Nagar sitting and the couple has maintained a constituency for some time.
Therefore, Rizwan Zaheer gets Firoz eliminated,” SP said.
Rizwan’s name appeared after the police arrested Merajul, Shakil and Mehfooz based on instructions taken from 250 CCTV recording clips from the camera that led to the crime scene.
Because of being baked, the trio spilled beans.
All three are known as Rizwan Zaheer’s Antek who have 14 criminal cases that encourage it and have been ordered under the National Security Law as well, the police said.
The police said three were accused of revealing that Rizwan Zaheer Daughter-in-law Rais had asked them to target Feroz.
Because it was questioned, Rais said the plan to eliminate Feroz was hatched in Convance with the former member of Parliament and his daughter.
Tulsipur’s residents, Feroz have left to meet a friend near his house at night on January 4.
While he walked home, Terajul, Mehfuz and Shakil followed him.
When he reached the patch of dark roads almost 500 meters from his house, Meerajul and Mehfuz attacked him with iron rods and sharp-eyed weapons when Shakil kept a watch, police said.
Security has been given to the Feroz family.
