Ahmedabad: The city crime branch on Saturday arrested one Irfan Hasmullah Khan, 36, for the murder of a woman whose body was dumped in the Overhead water tank from the garment factory in Khokhra Mohan.
Crime Branch official said Irfan had a prohibited relationship with the woman, Rekha Jayesh, for more than 15 years.
He recently entered a relationship with others.
On Tuesday, Khokhra police found a hidden body in the polythene water tank formed on the third floor of the garment factory.
Postmortem revealed that the woman had been stabbed to death.
He was later identified and found as a resident of Amrawadi.
Khan lives in the same environment with him.
Crime Branch Officials said the investigation was underway when they received information that Khan was in a tea shop in Amraiwadi and he was involved in the murder in Khokhra.
He was nabbed and interrogation, claimed to have killed Rekha.
Rikha is married and has children.
He and Khan have established a relationship for more than 15 years.
Khan told the police that he trusted Rekha and had given him Rs 2 Lakh in 2019, which he used.
He recently learned that he had a relationship with others.
This made him angry and he killed him after the argument was heated.
The crime branch official said on Sunday Khan had called Rekha to meet him and both had an argument after he strangled him and then stabbed him.
He then throws away the body in the water tank, full.
The police said when he knew his family would call him, Khan took both Rekha’s cellphone.
After his arrest, investigators recovered both cellphones.
