Nagpur: The Association of Indian travel agents (TAAI) said that the steps of the central government to help their sector who was lifted was ‘very small’ in terms of its impact.
Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday announced many decisions to help the travel sector recover from prolonged reddish.
The statement by the Association said that they expected more direct assistance to their members than ‘limit it to 904 stakeholders registered with the Ministry of Tourism (MOT)’.
President said Jyoti Malaal, in a written statement, said that they all expect more than what was announced.
“This assistance outreach is very small,” said Mayal.
“Only those registered with the Ministry of Tourism (Mot) will benefit.
Most of our members are registered with the State Tourism Department,” said Mayal.
He claimed that the registration of many members was still delayed due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Vice President Association Jay Bhatia said, “Only 10% of the actual stakeholders will benefit according to the FM package.
To expand the scope, the FM must enter the listed under MSMEs.
