Tirunelveli: The Museum of Porunai, which will showcase artifacts excavated from the archaeological site in Adichanallur, Korkai and Sivakalai, which was announced by Minister M K Stalin recently will appear in 13 hectares close to Sivanthipatti Hillock on the outskirts of Tirunelveli.
Tamil and Archaeological Cultural Minister Thangam Thananarasu said this when talking to reporters after checking the site on Thursday along with the speaker assembly M APPAVU and Collector District V Vishnu.
The museum will come close to the beautiful Hillock Sivanthipatti, in Pallayamkottai, where Madurai is busy to the Kanakumari National Highway passed.
Hillock who has become a tourist attraction for the scenery.
This location will make it easily accessible by thousands of tourists heading to Kanyakumari and air travelers to Tuticorin.
The museum, which will be established on expenditure Rs 15 Crore, will show 2,617 artifacts including equipment, terracotta, copper and iron equipment, coins, funeral jars, bracelets, beads, polished black equipment and porcelain pieces among other artifacts collected by Sivakalai, Korgai and AdaLlur and artifacts that will be collected in the coming excavation.
Thennarasu said that the museum would also use landscaping and interesting structures such as caves, cave humans and ancient architecture.
The place will also be filled with medicinal plants, handicraft showrooms and open theaters to attract tourists.
The point of view with a telescope will also be established on Sivanthipatti Hillock for visitors having a view of Bird’s eye from Tirunelveli and Pallayamkottai.
Museum construction will begin immediately after the completion of land acquisition and preparation for detailed project reports, the Minister added.
