Surat: Trying to get a refund for an undependent book that he ordered from the e-commerce platform proved expensive for a music teacher when cyber criminals calmed him Rs 1.76 lakh.
Bhavna Rana (33), a resident of the Mahidharpura region, on October 25 ordered a book from Amazon for his daughter who studied in class 2.
As a book, for RS 578, was not delivered, the shutter on November 8 called the customer care number he produced through Google search.
Someone, who identified himself as a customer service executive, convinced the refund and asked him to open an online link sent by him.

He also shares OTP with cyber criminals.
As soon as he received an SMS about reducing Rs 1,76,750 from his husband’s bank account which was associated with the Google Pay account.
The shutter initially filed a complaint with the Mahidharpura police station on Wednesday.
