Ballia: A 24-year-old Muslim man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping a woman after a relationship of love with him by claiming himself as a Hindu, police said.
The 22-year-old woman complained to the police that the defendant, residents of Ballia Kotwali City, had threatened to kill him when he began to avoid him after learning that he had falsified his identity.
The woman accused the accusation of inducing it into physical relationships, which continued for more than a year, with the pretext of marriage, senior sub-inspector of Ballia Kotwali, said.
A case was registered with the defendant on Tuesday below 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) from Indian Criminal Code and he had been arrested, SSI added.
