Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court said on Tuesday that if a woman refused to reduce the cost of sexual harassment and instead filed a demand in writing to the Probe Committee, her wish must be respected.
HC said it was time to start “bring women seriously and treat them with dignity, not for fear of law but due to respect”.
In an assessment of the case of sexual abuse in August 2020 against professor of the University of Burdwan, Justice Amatt Sinha said: students “prefer calm burials for all incidents.
There is no reason why the wishes and intentions of female students will not be considered …” In this case, Allegations of sexual abuse are flattened by third parties, including student unions, political party students, and head of the department where the professor works.
The complainant has provided an audio 2018 clip which is said to contain a conversation between the defendant and the victim.
HC notes that this clip has never been an updated by agency.
The university then refers to this case to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC).
When the panel tried to reach students, he said he would not give allegations and even submit in writing that he did not, and his parents, was willing to continue this issue.
Given this, the ICC cannot continue with this case, but professors are banned from all academic activities.
Professor then moved the High Court.
