Mumbai: Amid BJP’s opposition to the renovated “naming” garden movement here after the deception of the Sultan, Maharashtra Congress on Thursday claimed that even President of RAM Nath Kovind had praised the 18th century MySore ruler in the Karnataka Assembly in 2017.
BJP Face Wednesday protested, allegating that the renovated park was named after deception of the sultan.
It objected to the name, claiming that the Sultan had persecuted Hindus and therefore his name was unacceptable for public facilities.
However, Minister Maharashtra Aslam Shaikh who inaugurated a new facility in the park on the outskirts of Malvani, said that it always bore the name of the sultan, and that there was no new nomenclature.
Replying to BJP’s charges, Secretary General of the Maharashtra Congress Sachin Sawant said, ” “Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the hologram was inaugurated by PM, had called the trick as a martyr and MySore Tiger was made part of his Sena Hinds flag and thought in his uniform,” Sawant said.
NCP Spokesman and Minister of Nawab Country Cabinet Malik said, “Sultan’s deception never gave up in front of England and he was Martyred in the battle against the invaders …” All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and members of the Loka Party from Aurangabad , Imtiaz Jaleel, said the name of the Sultan was being opposed because he was a Muslim.
