My Covid Story: ‘I am responsible for infecting my wife and in-laws’

Vinayak Raikar left Bengaluru to surprise his wife on his birthday.
A little he knew that this would not be like another trip.
Only when he tested the positive virus, did he realize that he was accidentally and unconsciously infecting his wife and in-laws.
This is the story of Covid …
I’m not sure how I was infected but I knew I was responsible for distributing it to my wife and father-in-law.
It all started when I took the train from Bengaluru to my in-laws’ house to surprise my wife on her birthday.
When I arrived there, I had good health without symptoms at all.
But things began to change after one day when I fell with a fever and light cough.
I know this is something abnormal and has to do with Covid-19.
So, I follow the protocol, tested, and isolated myself to reduce the risk of infection.
4 days later, my RT-PCR results came, and I was tested Covid-19 positive.
The road to recovery
With the confirmation of the presence of Coronavirus in the body, the symptoms become clearer.
I have a high fever at first and can’t eat a lot because of losing appetite.
The condition stagnated about 7 days, after that my level of saturation dropped to 93-96 and the body temperature touched 103 ° Celsius.
I took Dolo for fever along with azithromycin, and multivitamins.
I missed my dose for 2 days, not sure if it had an impact, but my condition became the worst after the 7th day.
My saturation level dropped to 89-92 and I began to feel tired and panting after taking a few steps.
That’s when I received a call to be accepted.
But if I can control myself on that day, my recovery path will not be this victim.
I went to the nearest hospital where they did a quick check and said I could take care of myself at home.
But I did not feel healthy and firm in my decision to be accepted.
Then the hospital authority acknowledged me and put me on oxygen.
What surprised me, my fever went that night.
The next day, they started steroidal antibiotics and treatments.
Every covid patient in the ward, including me, is injected with these drugs twice a day.
This is a kind of universal protocol followed by all the hospitals that I feel.
I am used to pure oxygen in the hospital and they are pumped in 9 liters even though my saturation level is not so low.
The problem starts on the second day when I can’t breathe myself and start relying on oxygen masks all the time.
My condition deteriorates and I can’t even walk into a small room without help or support.
I was in the general ward of government hospitals and in the past day there were many activities, who tested my mental strength.
I was on the 5th day I stayed at the hospital, I called my doctor and explained my condition.
What he suggested me was to do breathing exercises and eliminate oxygen masks from time to time.
I began to follow him religiously.
Not sure if remdesivir works or breathing exercises, but I note a big increase in my condition.
My oxygen saturation level starts to rise, I can breathe yourself without oxygen support and can even run well.
In the next few days, my condition became better, and started sleeping without a mask.
Suggestions for others:
Eat healthy and balanced food.
During viral fever, it clearly lost appetite, but try to have healthy food.
Try to stay positive and not panic at all.
You must be strong and have a positive frame of mind for fast recovery.
Don’t forget to do breathing exercises.
Train every day for recovery that is faster than infectious diseases.
Keep the oximeter practical and continue to measure your level of saturation.
If you don’t panic drops.
Take a 6-minute test to strengthen your respiratory system and quick recovery.
