AIZAWL: The chief minister of Myanmar’s Chin State, Salai Lian Luai, has been one of the Myanmarese nationals who took refuge in Mizoram, resources in the state authorities said on Monday.
According to sources, Luai entered Mizoram late a week and has been granted shelter in a secure place in the country.
The lawyer-turned-politician was appointed as principal minister of the Chin State on April 2016 and was holding the post until date because of the army coup in Myanmar since the government couldn’t be shaped by National League for Democracy (NLD) which won a landslide victory in 2020 overall elections because of the army coup d’etat about February 1, as even since U Soe Htet was tipped to become the ministry substituting the prior.
Luai was arrested by the Myanmar Armed Forces in the aftermath of the army takeover but was later published.
He’s one of the 24 Myanmar legislators, chosen at the 2020 general elections, and over 16,000 individuals who fled the state later enormous military crackdown on anti-coup protesters around Mynamar and obtained refuge in Mizoram, ” the sources stated.
