YANGON: Myanmar’s deposed leader Aung San Suu Kyi appeared in person in a court hearing Monday for the first time because her administration was overthrown by the army at a February 1 coup, her attorney told Reuters.

Suu Kyi appeared in great health and maintained a face-to-face assembly with her legal staff for approximately 30 minutes prior to the hearing, attorney Thae Maung Maung explained.

“She wants her visitors to remain healthier and verified that the NLD (National League for Democracy) will exist so long as people exist, since it had been set for the individuals,” her attorney said.

Suu Kyi,” 75, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate because of the long struggle to construct democracy in the nation, is one of more than 4,000 individuals arrested as the coup. She faces charges which vary from illegally owning walkie-talkie radios to dividing a state law.
