Mumbai: With the results of the Gadchiroli district announced on Thursday, BJP maintained the top position in the election of Panthayat Maharashtra Nagar by winning a total of 419 from 1,791 seats.
It was followed by NCP which won 381 seats and congresses who won 344, the Data of the State Election Commission (SEC) showed.
Shiv Sena, who headed the powerful Sena-NCP-Congress coalition in the state, was in fourth place with 296 seats, while 239 seats went to independent candidates.
The remaining seats are won by parties such as CPM, BSP and local clothing.
Voting for Zilla Parishad (ZP) and Panchayat Samiti in Bhandara and Gondia Regency have been held simultaneously and the results are announced on Thursday.
Of the 105 ZP seats in two districts, BJP won 38, Congress 34, NCP 21 while the rest went to independently and others.
Similarly, of the 210 seats from Samiti Panchayat, BJP won 93, Congress 53, NCP 36 while others went to independently and others, said Sec.
